SWTOR: Free-to-Play

Thankful be, the free-to-play the option is here. (Yeah some things only work when Master Yoda says ‘em.) Take up your lightsaber, young padawan, and pick your side of the Force! Take your Jedi Knight all the way to level 50 totally absolutely free!

So how does f2p work? The SWTOR team has released two videos previewing the option. Here is the first:

And here’s the second:

TSW: Big Trouble in the Big Apple

Apples are part of the season’s bounty, so it’s fitting that TSW’s Issue #4: Big Trouble in the Big Apple has gone live in time for Thanksgiving. What’s in the new patch?

  • TSW’s very first raid! (Not live as of this writing. We’re told the team is madly scurrying to get it live shortly. We’ll keep you posted.)
  • Second Auxiliary Weapon – the Chainsaw. ‘Nuff said.
  • Major PvP updates – Major, I tell you! Read all about it here.
  • The Albion Theater – All the world’s a stage! Now you and your peeps can put on shows for all the (secret) world to see!
  • Reticule combat – Now you can simply point your targeting reticule to where you want your attack to go. Great for healers
  • And more! New Investigation Missions, Action Missions, a height slider, Lair missions, Slaughterhouse dungeon in Nightmare mode!

UPDATE: The Big Trouble in the Big Apple raid is now live!

Diablo III: Expansion

Another thing to be thankful for: word is that Blizz is working on an expansion to the best-selling PC game of all time! CEO Mike Morhaime oh-so-candidly mentioned during an investor call that a Diablo III expansion is in the works: “…we do have a plan. An expansion planned for Diablo. I don’t have any timeline to talk about. I think that the most important thing for us always comes down to the quality of the expansion and the gameplay, and so that will be a big factor in terms of driving our schedule.” I guess this means it’s time to start stocking up on Diablo III gold.
