I’m pretty organized. After years of losing my keys, misplacing stuff and forgetting to buy things while at the store, I’ve trained myself to have a proper place for everything and to always makes lists for just about everything. Here’s my list of game-related things to do this weekend (in our home the weekend begins on Thursday):
1. Check out SWTOR Cartel Market
2. Invite friends to GW2 free trial weekend
3. Watch Battle.net World Championships
4. Find the GW2 Lost Shores
Please join me in my quest to run through all my things to do! Wrap up all your RL activities now because you’ll be shuttered in the next few days, kids. Hit the health food store and stock up on good-for-you munchies (my list: whole wheat bread, lean deli meats, some munster, Pom, baby carrots, Doritos baked, fresh fruit, arugula) and whatnot because it’s gonna be a jam-packed (oooh, boysenberry jam!) weekend.
Finally the masses (which may include but is in no way limited to: Star Wars geeks, regular geeks, former SWTOR geeks who’ve unsubbed, curious gamers, cheapos) can play SWTOR free! Get to level 50 without having to pay a red cent!
As we’ve mentioned previously, Game Update 1.5: HK-51 Activated also launched with the F2P option. Check out the new Cartel Market (use Cartel Coins here instead of SWTOR credits), new adventures in Section X, Operation: Explosive Conflict in Nightmare mode, and my soon-to-be-new-favorite companion HK-51!

Guild Wars 2 Events
Better stock up on GW2 gold, pronto—major events are coming to the game this month.
World Event: The Lost Shores
Also competing for our attention this weekend is GW2’s massive world event, The Lost Shores. The storyline begins at 12:00 p.m. PST November 16th. There will be a new species, new rewards, crafting materials and recipes.
Free Trial Weekend
GW2 is holding a free trial weekend. If you are currently a player, you may invite up to three friends to join you on Tyria. (Yes Captain Obvious, you log in to your account then click “Invite a Friend.”) If you don’t have a GW2 account and are friends with someone who does have an account, ask to be invited and then you’ll see if you really are friends. (I now dub the free trial the friend trial!)
New dungeon: Fractals of the Mists
It’s hard to explain, so here’s the official word on the new dungeon. “You’ll be pitted against a series of unique “fractal” mini-dungeons that get harder and harder as you progress, giving you unlimited levels of challenge! With great risk comes great reward, including new weapon sets, a back-slot item, new Ascended loot, and much more!”
…and there’s more
If you can still find time to spare, you might want to watch the “End of An Era” video for FFXIV:
And if you haven’t yet, you might want to squeeze in a little craft project for Diablo III: the Infernal Machine. Here’s a list of things you’ll need:
- The Key of Destruction will drop from Odeg the Keywarden in Act I – Fields of Misery
- The Key of Hate will drop from Sokahr the Keywarden in Act II – Dahlgur Oasis
- The Key of Terror will drop from Xah’Rith the Keywarden in Act III – Stonefort
- The Blacksmithing Plans will drop from Nekarat the Keywarden in Act IV – Silver Spire Level 1
