Part lion, part eagle, and all saddled up for your riding pleasure – the Winged Guardian is now on sale at the Blizzard Store for a cool $25.
The Winged Guardian is the second flying mount to be sold separately outside the World of Warcraft game after the ridiculously popular Celestial Steed sold by the millions last year.
This lion-eagle mount bestows its owner with the same speed-scaling perks as its sparkling predecessor, and also sports gold flame animations on its mane, hoofs, wings and tail.
“When you take to the skies astride a blazing, eagle-winged lion, your comrades will know you mean business. Serious business. So saddle up, because this flying mount will travel as fast as your riding skill will take you, and it can even travel at 310% speed if you have at least one other 310% speed mount,” said its official description.
To satisfy lore fans clamoring for a backstory, Blizzard added that the sphinx-like beast is actually a titan creation tasked to keep long-hidden secrets of the ancient race. Its fitting moniker: Guardian of the Titans.
Like all other store-bought pets and mounts, the Winged Guardian can be applied to all present and future characters on a single game account. It will also probably clog up the capital cities in favor of other WoW Gold mounts (at least until the Firelands patch mounts go live).
If this is the first mount you’re purchasing from the Blizzard Store – because you think the Celestial Steed is an overhyped piece of pony – you can check out the Pet Store FAQ to get your burning questions answered.
