Fresh from feeding the hungry masses with troll heroics in Patch 4.1, Blizzard is now serving up two steaming hot trailers for the next Patch 4.2: Firelands update.
Both previews run just under 2 minutes each, but pack a lot of visual spoilers for players ready to conquer the second tier of Cataclysm raiding.
The first video above shows a smattering of combustible trash mobs like fire elementals and hell hounds, plus four raid bosses guarding the hellish headquarters of Ragnaros. These are:
- Lord Anthrycist (0:27). Fight seems to have a lot of environmental fire damage like volcanic eruptions, rock throws and magma ley lines.
- Aranae (0:56). This giant spider is seen hanging down from a web canopy, so we’re guessing that most attacks will come from above.
- Fandral Staghelm (1:10). The Archdruid of Darnassus and political rival of night elf leader Tyrande Whisperwind seems to have been corrupted, and will battle raiders in his deadly forms like a scorpion and a fire kitty.
- Ragnaros the Firelord (1:37). The elemental lord holds court in Sulfuron Keep, and is the last boss in the Firelands raiding gauntlet.
Meanwhile, the second video above reveals the fiery environments players will encounter while completing their daily quests. We see dozens of mobs roving the nine confirmed zones, a giant tree that could be related to the World Tree, and firehawks in their natural habitat.
The Firelands raid content was widely expected to be included in Patch 4.1, but Blizzard said the lower-than-expected completion rate of dungeons and raids among guilds led them to push the roll-out down the calendar.
There is no release date yet for Patch 4.2, but it’s never too early to stock up on WoW Gold and gear up for what appears to be hectic, challenging raids.
