There’s nothing like logging into World of Warcraft, heading over to the mail box to check your mail, and finding out a friend has sent you a couple of hundred in wow gold is there? If only that sorta thing happened in real life eh? “Mornin’ Chris how are you today? Had yer pop tarts? Hot Pockets? Good. Oh by the way here’s three hundred dollars to start your day off!” *le sigh!*
Anyway, let’s get to some console news shall we?
Are you excited about the PSPgo launch? Lookin’ forward to it? Excellent, Sony’s decided to make buying one just a little harder. For reasons known only to them, they’re putting on sale an absolutely outrageous deal on the older, phatter, and much less sexy PSP 3000. Starting October 20th, less than a month after the PSPgo launches, you’ll be able to pick up a Limited Edition Gran Turismo PSP Entertainment Pack. Like I said, it’s kind of an outrageous deal, for two hundred bones you get:
- Mystic Silver PSP-3000 System
- Gran Turismo PSP Game on UMD
- PlayStation Network Downloadable voucher for a white Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, a color not available in the game and is exclusive to this entertainment pack
- 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo
- PlayStation Network downloadable movie voucher – title TBD
- Sony MusicPass voucher good for 10 downloadable songs – available to US residents only. Choose from hundreds of thousands of your favorite artists from Sony Music Entertainment
Not bad eh? Well if you’re more of a PC gamer GoG.com‘s got you covered for at least another 5 days. All you’ve got to do is buy one Interplay game and get one free, of course all GoG games are under $10, making the deal even sweeter. Yes, I’m awesome, I know.
Speaking of awesome, Funcom’s follow up to the awesome Age of Conan (no really, I love AoC okay?) Is the equally awesome looking , The Secret World. Funcom have understandably kept details under wraps for a while now, preferring to let Age of Conan bask in the limelight and find its footing, but with the release of the first trailer and details on AoC’s first expansion, Rise of the Godslayer, it seems they deem it time to pull back the tarp on The Secret World. You can see the new teaser trailer here, unfortunately there’s no gameplay footage, just CG, but it should give you an idea what kind of vibe they’re going for. Curious to know what people think about this one coming off the back of the ah, shall we say, controversial launch of AoC. There’s some really nice concept art for the game over here, showing off at least three different factions, the Dragon, Illuminati, and the Templars.
Since we’re talking about the next big thing, Blizzard’s been teasing their next MMO. Speaking to WIRED, Blizzard COO Paul Sams stated that it’s going to be significantly different from World of Warcraft;
I think the (new MMO) is going to be significantly differentiated enough. Such that you’re not going to feel like they’re one and the same resulting in that you have to pick or choose.
If the bad thing that happens to us is that they leave WoW and go to this other thing of Blizzard’s then we’ll work through the pain.
The pain of wallowing in half a billion dollars a hear eh Paul? So basically he’s saying he wants you ponying up your hard earned to pay for both!
On the follow up to WoW:
Yeah, I can’t comment against the game, the level of detail, the business model or any of that stuff. But what I could tell you is that we’re intending to create a game experience that is unlike anything that has ever been done before. Something that I think takes things far beyond what anyone has imagined and certainly anything anyone has executed.
Sounds exciting and ambitious yes?
There’s a lot more stuff in the interview that you might find interesting, including Blizzard’s difficulties in adapting to a pipeline that produces one expansion a year, and also some stuff about WoW’s longevity and a promise not to pull the plug on us all anytime soon.
The other big bit of Blizzard news is the welcome announcement that the Faction Change Service for World of Warcraft is now live and available to all… for a price, the very expensive price of $30!!! Still, if you must, you must, there’s a detailed FAQ here to help you flip-floppers out, to get started on the process of refactionalisation (just made that one up), go here.
So I can’t get off here without bringing up this really cool little nugget of Aion news. I’m not generally big on videogames adapted to comics (or the other way round now that I think about it), but DC Comic’s interpretation of Aion: Tower of Eternity looks abosolutely sick! Unfortunately, Avia’s Story isn’t exactly widely available, you’ll only be able to pick it up at PAX this weekend (in limited quantities), or by purchasing it from Gamestop in the US, and Electronics Boutique in Canadaland.
Avia’s Story tells the tale of a young Asmodian warrior, the titular Avia, as she embarks on a journey of revenge against the Elyos that killed her entire family during a raid. I’ve been out of the comic book world for a spell, so I can’t vouch for artist Neil George and writers David Noonan and Ricardo Sanchez, but it sure looks pretty in pictures.
By the way, if you live in Europe and have been struggling to get a beta key for Aion, rejoice! European beta keys for Aion are now available. Head over to this page to find out where to go for the client, beta to full client patch, and links to download the torrent files.
Welp, that’s all from me folks. I’m off to go see if I can do anything about fixing my recently YLOD PS3 What are you still doing reading this anyway? PAX 2010 starts today! Go! Go! Go!
See ya Tuesday folks!
